Snapshots of Home
The part of Newfoundland called the Boot, or more officially the Burin Peninsula, has been home to me for many years now. From rolling hills to breathtaking coastlines, this place is a photographer’s gold mine. These are just a handful of my favourite shots of home.

New York City, NY
What can I say about the city where I drank amazing coffee every day, stood atop of the Empire State Building, visited an 18 mile long bookstore called The Strand, visited the set of SNL, saw Will Ferrel taping Anchorman 2, played Chopsticks on the BIG Piano at FAO Schwartz, strolled through Central Park and got lost on the subway? It was exhausting, but my four day trip was just enough to get me hooked. If only the city wasn’t so tall, I’d feel a lot better about navigating around. But that comes with time. Looking forward to my next visit.

St. John’s, Newfoundland
The capital city of the eastern most province in Canada has always been a magical place for me. The city is where I called home for almost a decade and it’s winding streets, jellybean coloured row houses, quaint pubs and electric music scene have made me the person I am today.

Bruce Springsteen’s Wrecking Ball Tour, Moncton, NB
There are still no words to describe how monumental that concert was. The whole day felt like a miracle, as I walked right up to centre stage a mere hour before he stepped on stage, and moment later, held his hand and sang “Waitin’ On A Sunny Day” in the mic he extended. The whole 3 hour concert still seems like a blur, and if it weren’t for these pictures, I would guess I was dreaming. Springsteen, you really are the Boss of the heart.

Fogo Island, Newfoundland
I was lucky enough to visit this island off our island this summer. My fellow Pathfinder leaders and I took our group camping and what a better place to set up our tents and hike the coastlines than this rugged spot? Fogo is brimming with Newfoundland culture and is now the epicentre of the arts and tourism on the island with the new Fogo Island Inn and the other various arts projects created by the Shorefast Foundation. I can’t wait to go back there.

Disney World & Universal Studios, Florida
There’s nowhere in the world more magical than Disney World. I travelled to the Magic Kingdom and Universal Studios to spend my 27th birthday surrounded by wizards and roller coasters and did I ever have a special day.

Clam Harbour Beach Provincial Park, Nova Scotia
Clam Harbour Beach Provincial Park is a long, wide natural sand beach that is most famous for its Sandcastle Competition which has taken place every August for over 35 years. I got the chance to see all these amazing sandcastle this summer… but it took us ages to get there. Cars were lined along the road for miles and miles and my friends and I had to walk most of the 4 km hike in the blaring sun to get there. Thankfully there were shuttles to get us back to the car afterwards.

Halifax, Nova Scotia
Halifax will always be my first home, so when I’m back visiting, there’s always something I want to photograph and remember. The Halifax Public Gardens is an especially lovely place to visit in the Spring and I was grateful to have the place almost to myself when I was there. On my visit, my friends and I also spent some time in the Pleasant Hill Cemetary
